  • Pooja Mahajan is the Managing Partner of Chandhiok & Mahajan, Advocates & Solicitors. Pooja leads the firm’s Restructuring & Insolvency practice group which includes advising clients on restructuring, both within and outside the Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code, 2016. Pooja represents both creditors and debtors in insolvency proceedings and routinely advises resolution professionals and liquidators of a number of companies. She also actively advices on investment in distressed assets. Pooja routinely appears and argues before Indian bankruptcy tribunals such as the NCLT and NCLAT as well as the Supreme Court of India in various insolvency and liquidation proceedings.

Pooja is an active member of INSOL and International Bar Association and a part of IWIRC (International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation) Asia leadership group. She was also the Council Co-Chair at ASSOCHAM National Council for Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code and Valuation. Pooja works closely with World Bank on various projects in the Indian restructuring and insolvency space and was part of the World Bank’s 2019 Task Force for MSME Insolvency and 2022 Taskforce for Insolvency & Creditor/Debtor Regimes as India’s representative. She is actively involved in IBBI’s efforts for skill-building insolvency professionals and has taken multiple lectures and seminars for law students and insolvency professionals organised by Universities, IBBI and the Insolvency Professional Agencies.

Before joining C&M, Pooja was a partner in the Corporate Practice Group of Amarchand & Mangaldas Suresh A. Shroff & Co. She started her career at the chambers of Late Mr. Arun Jaitley and is a graduate from the University of Delhi,
with first class honours and a post-graduate with distinction from the University of Oxford.

  • End to end legal advisory services to the resolution professionals (RPs) and liquidators of several companies including the RPs/ liquidators of Asian Colour Coated Limited, Ricoh India Limited, Mandhana Industries Limited, Patna Highways Projects Limited, Sarga Hotels Limited, Reliance Broadcast Networks Limited, Asian Hotels (West) Limited, Innoventive Industries Limited.
  • Represented multiple creditors/ debtors in filing and defending insolvency petitions across various NCLTs, including ARCIL, Bank of Baroda, responsibility, Administrator of DHFL, Airtel, Emaar India
  • Representing Jalan-Fritsch Consortium in various forums for approval and implementation of its resolution plan for Jet Airways (India) Limited. Represented various bidders in preparing resolution plans and bids for companies in resolution/ liquidation including Refex group, GR Infra, Sarda group, Chowgule group, Power Grid Corporation.
  • Represented RP of Astonfield Solar (Gujarat) Private Limited in successfully restraining GUVNL from terminating a power purchase agreement during CIRP under an ipso facto clause, which culminated in the landmark decision of SC in Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited v. Mr. Amit Gupta and Others.
