Dr. Gemawat is a General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, a thought leader a strategist with business orientation. Besides specialising in International Trade Laws and WTO from ICAI,  he is a post graduate in Law and holds a Doctorate in Insider Trading, He is a Chartered Accountant, Cost Accountant and Chartered Secretary from India and the UK. 

He has nearly three decades of experience as head of legal, taxation, risk & compliance, regulatory, corporate & secretarial functions of esteemed corporates and MNCs across industries such as automobiles, real estate, infrastructure etc.

Dr. Gemawat has been recognised as one of “India’s finest In-house counsels” and has been honoured for his outstanding contribution towards in-house legal community by ICCA and the Law Society of England & Wales. He has also been honoured as “the Most Influential Corporate Counsel and Company Secretary” by ACoS.

He regularly expresses his views on various contemporary legal and commercial issues as a speaker and has been a Guest/Expert Speaker at various national and international conferences organized by prestigious bodies from the industry and academic institutions including Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), ASSOCHAM, PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industries, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), National Law University (NLU), ICSI, ICAI, Lexis Nexis, Legal Era, Lex Witness, to name a few. He has also contributed a chapter on “Arbitration: An In-house Counsel’s Perspective” in the book titled “Alternative Dispute Resolution – The Indian Perspective” published by the Oxford University Press.
