Juanitta Calitz, is currently an Associate Professor of Law at the University of Johannesburg (UJ), and Head of the Department of Mercantile Law. She presents undergraduate; postgraduate and extra-curricular courses in insolvency law, corporate insolvency law as well as business rescue and have presented papers at various national and international conferences.

Prof. Calitz has written articles and book chapters on topics related to insolvency law and business rescue and is a co-author of the book ‘Mars: The Law of Insolvency in South Africa (10th edition)’ . Her research interests include corporate insolvency law and business rescue as well as the impact of COVID 19 and Industry 4.0 on Insolvency law and Business Rescue.

Prof. Calitz is currently the Chair of the INSOL International Academic Forum. She is also a member of the International Advisory Council of the Singapore Global Restructuring Initiative (SGRI), member of the editorial Board of the International Insolvency Review (IIR) and is one of the jury for the ILA International (Insolvency & Bankruptcy) Short Story Contest: 2023 Edition.
